HOW TO PREPARE
To prepare your skin and help optimize treatment outcomes:
- Stay well hydrated by drinking water or hydrating fluids (approximately **8 cups daily).**
- Avoid alcohol consumption for **24 hours prior to treatment.**
- Shave visible hair from the treatment area on the day before the treatment.
- For **3–7 days before treatment,** and at your practitioner’s discretion, discontinue products or therapies that may cause skin irritation, including:
-Retinoid, retinol or isotretinoin-containing products
- Exfoliating acids (e.g., glycolic, salicylic, lactic acids)
AFTER TREATMENT
Proper aftercare is essential for healing and results:
- Gently cleanse the area with warm water and a **mild, non-exfoliating cleanser** (a.m./p.m.) starting the day after treatment.
- If redness or warmth persists, apply a cool compress or ice pack at home. Always place a clean cloth between the skin and the ice.
- Apply a gentle moisturizer frequently if the skin feels tight or dry.
- Temporary acne flares may occur as the skin is healing due to inflammation or swelling.
- Resume normal skin care routine once skin is healed completely—typically 5-7 days after treatment.
- *Do **not** scrub, exfoliate, pick or scratch at treated skin, as this may increase the risk of pigmentation changes.*
- *Avoid sun exposure and apply a **broad-spectrum mineral sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher)** daily. Reapply every 2 hours if outside.*
- *Avoid alcohol consumption during the initial healing period.
- *For **24 hours**, avoid:*
- *High-intensity exercise*
- *Activities that significantly increase body temperature such as saunas, hot tubs, steam rooms, or vigorous workouts*
- *Application of traditional makeup. After 24 hours–mineral makeup may be applied after redness has resolved.*
- *Avoid products or therapies that may cause skin irritation for 5-7 days post treatment.*
